Simply copy the "Quantum Northwest" folder to a convenient location on the computer to be used.

Run the program "CDM v2.12.04 WHQL Certified.exe" to install the drivers required for serial communications between T-App(S) and the Quantum Northwest TC 1 Temperature Controller.

Then open "T-App(S) Manual.pdf" when you are ready to begin learning how to use T-App(S).

Five plastic cuvettes are included. We recommend that they be used to fill any unoccupied places in the cuvette holder when working with fewer that 6 samples. This will reduce heat loss or gain due to convection in empty positions.

Two versions of T-App(S) are included in the "T-App(S) program" folder. "T-App(S) V1.50E.exe" is the version used to acquire the data included in the "TC 1, t2 examples" folder and the "TC 1, qChanger 6 examples" folder. "T-App(S) V1.50M" is the most current version available at the time of shipment. You should use this newest version (which has been tested with the Shimadzu UV-1800); the older version is provided as a backup just in case any significant problems are experienced with the newest version.

In Windows 7 or 8 T-App(S) may be sluggish. You can make it more responsive using the information provided on line at
    http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/tune-up-your-windows-7-by-changing-the-process-priorities/ .
Although the instructions there are for Windows 7, they work fine in Windows 8 also.

Or follow these steps which must be repeated each time you run T-App(S).

  1. Open the Task Manager using this keyboard command: Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
  2. Click on the Details tab. If no tabs are visible, click on "More Details" at the bottom of the Task Manager window.
  3. You'll see a list of running applications, along with their CPU and memory usage.
  4. Right click on T-App(S).
  5. Choose the "Set Priority" option and chose "High" from the drop-down menu. Click on the "Change Priority" button in the small dialog window.
